Monotch and Nodeon launch C-ITS collaboration in Finland

The Dutch company Monotch, a leader in the C-ITS sector, and Finnish technology specialist Nodeon have entered into a partnership aimed at advancing Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) in Finland. This collaboration highlights the importance of robust platform solutions that facilitate data exchange between intelligent road infrastructure and vehicles.

Monotch is renowned for its groundbreaking neutral Infra-to-Vehicle (I2V) platform, TLEX (Traffic Live Exchange). This open-data platform is compatible with products from major smart mobility technology providers, including leading traffic signal manufacturers. TLEX has already proven its effectiveness in large-scale implementations across Europe.

Nodeon brings extensive experience in designing and implementing ITS solutions for roads, tunnels, and urban environments. The company specializes in developing innovative traffic analysis, guidance, and safety solutions. Known for delivering complex technical integration systems, Nodeon has earned a strong reputation in the fields of smart mobility and smart cities.

Together, Monotch and Nodeon aim to introduce the TLEX I2V platform to Finland’s smart mobility ecosystem. The platform adheres to open European standards (ETSI, C-Roads, NordicWay, etc.), enabling advanced features and interfaces. It offers road authorities tools to improve traffic flow and safety while prioritizing specific road users, such as freight transport, emergency vehicles, public transportation, or cyclists, through traffic signal prioritization.

A standout feature of TLEX is its real-time communication capability. The platform currently processes around 500 million ETSI-compliant real-time messages daily between infrastructure and vehicles.

A proven platform for real-time data exchange

The TLEX platform connects traffic signal controllers and other intelligent roadside devices to service providers, car manufacturers, road authorities, emergency services, and ultimately road users. Designed for scalability, TLEX handles massive data volumes with minimal latency. It has been integral to the Netherlands’ national UDAP platform (Urban Data Access Platform) as part of the Talking Traffic initiative.

TLEX has also been deployed in leading European R&D projects like InterCor, Concorda, and NordicWay3. With Nodeon’s support, the technology is now ready for deployment in Finland, complete with established protocols and interfaces.

Complementary expertise for smart mobility

Nodeon’s deep understanding of Nordic traffic technologies aligns perfectly with Monotch’s European C-ITS expertise. Nodeon’s Business Director for Products and Services, Timo Majala, emphasized the urgency of adopting C-ITS solutions in Finland to keep pace with European advancements:
